Meet Amanda Van Gerpen

Before taking Immersion, I was a stay at home mom with ten years experience in graphic design. I had stepped away from my job two years earlier to stay home with our kids and was attempting to build a business. I was trying to find a way to use my creative skills to bring in some extra income for our family, but have the freedom to choose when and how often I worked. I was ultimately throwing things against the wall to see what would stick - I didn’t have a plan at all. I signed up for Immersion to learn how to run a creative business. Nervous about the investment, my husband supported me and encouraged me to take the leap. After working through Immersion, I have an actionable plan to build my business. I don’t have to guess anymore, which allows me to be more intentional with my time. I have been making patterns and developing collections since Immersion wrapped up in May. My life is busy with three kids at home, but I can see my business growing as my confidence grows. I am making my own products to sell on my website and creating art from scratch! I never thought I could do that! Before, I purchased other artist’s products, but now I’m creating art for myself! That saves me so much money and brings me more satisfaction in my work. Someday I would like to license my work and own a small shop filled with products displaying my patterns. I keep practicing one-thing-a-day and those add up over time. I am grateful for Bonnie and her team and all the information they provide!
