Meet Amy Schelle

advanced user art prints fabric full-time home decor licensing united states

I was a modern quilt pattern designer and an interior designer doing consultation work on my own. I first discovered surface pattern design on Skillshare and immediately fell in love. I took all the free content I could find and eventually wanted something more. When the first Immersion course was announced, I signed up right away.

The cost terrified me at first. My business was not earning a real income and the expense felt daunting, but it was worth every penny. The program was so deep and thorough, and it truly impacted my entire business. It improved my quilt pattern design skills while also teaching me surface pattern design.

I have taken the course every year since 2018 and did not land my first licensing deal until 2024. The course allowed me to keep practicing, drawing and creating while raising all my little boys at home. It gave me flexibility, but also something of my own so I did not lose myself.

Since then, I have added print on demand products to my site, licensed my artwork with Moda Fabrics and continued to grow my business. There is still so much more I could be doing, but I know it will come with time. I have a few more fabric collections coming out and I am excited to see where that growth leads and what inspiration comes from seeing those fabrics go live.

I am also growing my print on demand products and cannot wait to see where they take me. Looking ahead, I want to diversify and license in more industries. That is a big goal of mine for 2026.
