Before Immersion, I had pieced together the very basic steps of creating a pattern consistently and what I thought was somewhat decent. I had no idea that what I was doing was the equivalent of hitting something with a rock when power tools actually existed. I knew there had to be faster and easier ways to create patterns for my greeting cards and print on demand products, so the promise of Immersion was very appealing.

I had already spent a similar amount on a course the previous year to launch myself into the art business world. I loved patterns, but I was scared to spend that much again when I felt like I was not established enough. Thankfully, I had just finished a major project creating a suite of logo graphics for local radio stations. My first check covered the cost of my previous course, and my final check covered the cost of Immersion almost exactly, so I decided to go for it.

The best part of Immersion was learning exactly how to become an expert in my new craft and finally use the tools I already had in a more efficient way. I gained all the knowledge I hoped for in understanding Illustrator’s mysterious buttons and settings, and even more than I thought was possible.

Since completing Immersion, I have grown my Spoonflower shop by hundreds of designs and listings, created more complex and visually appealing patterns with ease, competed in design challenges, met pattern creation deadlines successfully and added four complete collections to my professional portfolio, with more on the way. I am looking forward to pitching my portfolio in the near future.
