Meet Dawn Gibson

Before joining Immersion, I had been slowly researching ways to bring my dream business to life while raising my one-year old son. I was a full-time mum and had officially resigned from the United Nations (UN), in order to pursue my swimwear business, specialising in fuller coverage pieces for women featuring hand-drawn prints which I'd drawn/painted. I quickly realised I needed to learn how to create repeat patterns and it seemed as though nothing I googled was making sense to me.

One day, I stumbled across an Instagram video from Bonnie, and it was as though she was speaking directly to me. I joined her free workshop and was hooked. I knew I needed to then put in the effort and money to participate in the Immersion Course. Immersion taught me how to use Illustrator, how to create collections, patterns, and really encouraged and inspired me to feel like this dream was that much closer to coming to life. After about a year of conceptualising my business idea and a few months after completing Immersion, I officially launched Salty Togs Swimwear, which is currently online and I have sold close to 50 swimsuits! I pinch myself everyday that I get to do the work I love and largely because of what Immersion equipped me with.
