Meet Diana Jamison
What I loved most about Immersion was discovering just how much is possible. I felt continually inspired by Bonnie’s message that “There is room for you” — a reminder that still echoes whenever I sit down to design. I loved being able to learn at my own pace, knowing I can always return to each module for guidance and encouragement. Immersion opened the door to a creative world I never knew existed, one filled with beauty, generosity, and joy. Bonnie and her team managed to share their warmth and expertise with such a large virtual audience that it felt deeply personal. Even the course itself — in its design, detail, and sense of care — was a work of art.
Before discovering surface pattern design, I was a boutique owner and artist with a dream: to create scarves that would harmonize with the fashions in my shop. Pieces that carried both color and story. I’d always loved textiles, but I didn’t yet know how to turn my ideas into patterns or products.
When I came across Bonnie Christine and her Immersion course, I was intrigued but also unsure. I wasn’t convinced I could learn something as complex as Adobe Illustrator. And, like many, I hesitated to invest that much money in an online course. I worried it might not be worth it, or that I’d feel lost in the technology.
But something about Bonnie’s warmth and message, “There is room for you,” stayed with me. I took the leap. It turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Immersion opened a world I never knew existed, filled with a community overflowing with creativity, generosity, and encouragement. During a difficult and uncertain time in our country, the course became a lifeline: a daily practice that lifted my spirit, gave me focus, and reminded me that I could keep learning, even in small steps.
What I loved most was discovering what’s possible, and realizing that story and relationship, already the foundation of my work as a therapist and artist, could live inside design too. The course itself was a work of art: beautifully structured, deeply human, and filled with joy.
The skill I cherish most is the confidence that I can create what I imagine. Adobe Illustrator no longer feels intimidating; it feels like a new language for storytelling through pattern and color.
Since Immersion, I’ve designed ten 16" x 17" scarves, each a small work of wearable art. They’ve been sent to the U.S. Copyright Office for registration, and a few samples have already been printed. My next step is to launch a marketing project that invites connection: gifting a custom scarf to a customer who agrees to share her joy (and her story) with ten friends.
Looking ahead, I plan to revisit the Immersion lessons this winter, prepare for certification, and build my portfolio. I’m filled with ideas for future collections and collaborations. Whatever lies ahead, I know this path has already been a deeply good one — one of courage, heart, and discovery.
Remember The Wizard of Oz — that all it really takes is courage, a heart, and a brain. With those three things, you’ll fall in love with this course and with what you discover inside yourself. Immersion will open a door to beauty you didn’t know you carried, and you’ll find that what’s been waiting within you is ready to launch itself into the world.
