Meet Emily Drew Mash

Before beginning my journey with Surface Pattern Design I was a stay at home mom who created art during nap time. For years, more than a decade, I had a dream of designing surface patterns but I had no idea how to get in the industry or even technically how to make a repeat.

In 2019 I wanted to take Immersion but I had a baby in February and knew the time wasn't right for me. So, when Immersion 2020 opened I just had to sign up. I was hesitant about spending the money but my husband knew how long I had dreamed of becoming a designer and encouraged me to do it. I had a goal to make back what I spend within a year.

Immersion gave me all the tools but most importantly the CONFIDENCE to become a designer. If a question comes up that I'm not sure about, it's in Immersion somewhere. I consistently showed up and put in the work. I created a lot of patterns made lots of mistakes. Within a year of taking Immersion I was offered a lead pattern designer position with a children's clothing company making a full time salary. Most importantly I am living my dream. If you are on the fence about Immersion, don't wait! Take the class this year and soon you can be living your dream too.
