Meet Jan Dressler
I had retired from a 25 year career as a premier stencil designer and artist, anxious to learn things that I had put aside while running my business. So I spent years doing physical art, welding, building, gardening, up-cycling trash into treasure, you name it, I learned it.
Then my sister told me about Immersion. I finally checked it out, took a free course, and I was hooked. I had some experience in Illustrator, but not for years. I wanted to learn more, but I am on a fixed income and was hesitant to make the investment. I didn't think that I could do it because I felt I was no longer relevant, that my story was old news, no one would ever even have heard of me, and my art was stiff and artificial. I was self taught and never got a degree. Who did I think I was?
But what did I have to lose? Nothing. I had everything to gain, Immersion changed all my negative thinking. I gained self-confidence, knowledge, friends in a community that was full of people just like me. I felt I had come home.
What I most cherish about the course is that the lessons were in bite-sized pieces. You could take your time to learn and assimilate the material, making it stick. The course materials were so effective, giving you a resource book that you can look back at when you forget a little shortcut or method. I have used it countless times to help me through hard spots.
Since I took immersion in 2024 and 2025, I have produced over 100 patterns, learned to make my own original mockups, created a stellar website, made 5 portfolios, and am now pitching my patterns to the industry. I want to be a licensed artist, have a market presence once more, and keep on this amazing path that I love. I journey on...
I wouldn't have done it without Immersion and Bonnie Christine and team!
