Meet Laura Cox
I was working full-time in legal admin, making art on weekends both for fun and to sell on POD sites. My mentor had taken Immersion in 2024, and she was very insistent that it would be perfect for my style of art and skills.
I was worried about the cost of the course, making the investment, and learning Adobe Illustrator at the same time as learning everything else, as I had only ever used Photoshop-type programs and heard Illustrator was difficult.
After I finished Immersion, I felt so confident that this was the direction I wanted to take my career. I had so many ideas for collections and POD designs, it looked like the path to creating the creative dream career: freedom of time and location and living a creative life all day, every day. Immersion showed me that there are so many companies in need of fresh art, so many opportunities, teachers, courses, and a whole universe that I can tap into.
The best part of Immersion was the community. It felt great to be connected to other creatives of all levels, sharing our work, our difficulties, celebrating our triumphs and watching the amazing designs that were coming out of the course in real time.
Bonnie’s lessons were so detailed and easy to follow; she covered everything you could possibly need to know, from designing to pitching to legal documents.
Since completing Immersion, I have built a portfolio with three full collections, three mini-collections and many stand-alone illustrations. I have opened an Etsy store and sell my designs on three POD sites. Just recently, I took the leap and resigned from my admin job and am dedicating myself to my creative business full-time. I am now pitching daily to licensing agents and art directors, while I continue to develop my pattern design skills and add to my portfolio.
Immersion is an incredible journey, an amazing bubble of community, creativity and support. It is not easy but it is 100% worth it.
