Meet Louise Dexter
Before Immersion, I was painting with oils and teaching a little as well. I was also using my iPad for drawing because my space at home was very limited and I could not leave paints out all the time.
I took Immersion because after completing the free week course, I realised how much more I wanted to understand. I am so glad I did. The only thing that gave me pause was the cost, but I knew how much I wanted to pursue this and that the investment was really in myself and my future.
Ideas and patterns started flowing out of me. Not all of them were good, but each one taught me something and helped me move forward in the course. Following the one thing a day approach was the most productive part for me. Even if it was just taking a few photos on my phone or sitting down to create a small pattern, it encouraged me to keep going.
Since Immersion, I have created several patterns and collections. I have built a website and earned my surface pattern design certification. My next step is to look for licensing partners and opportunities.
My dream is to see my designs in Liberty of London one day.
