Surface design is my dream job, and one that I never knew existed until I came across Bonnie Christine. I have always loved creating art, but as a young person, I was unaware of the potential careers within the industry. So instead, I studied Psychology and worked with kids with Autism until I had my own children.

I had been fortunate enough to be a stay-at-home mom for a number of years, and just when I was thinking that it was time to get back into the workforce, the pandemic hit. I had always dreamt of working from home and on my own schedule, but suddenly having my kids home all the time reinforced how important it was to me to have flexibility.

I came across Bonnie's website and was intrigued, but honestly, I was also scared. It had been so many years since I truly did something just for myself. I worried that it was selfish to spend money on a course that I didn't know that much about. I had never opened Illustrator before and was worried that I wouldn't know enough to even begin.

Watching Bonnie talk about surface design and the Immersion course just gave me a gut feeling that it was the right choice and that it was worth the leap of faith. Her warmth and kindness combined with her natural ability to teach is remarkable, and I have never in my life been so excited to learn. Immersion taught me so much about Adobe Illustrator and the huge world of surface design. It introduced me to a community of people who loved and wanted the same thing. And it managed to do so in a way that created no competition, only support.

I am very happy to have released two fabric collections with Hawthorne Supply Co. and have another contract in its early stages that I am incredibly excited about.

I intend to keep growing, learning, and doing "one thing a day", and I am excited to see where it will take me.
