I had first discovered surface pattern design in college, but only in small fragments. I loved the idea of turning my artwork into patterns, but I never felt comfortable with Illustrator, and that kept me from pursuing it. When I discovered Bonnie, everything changed. Her clear, faith-filled teaching style made me believe I really could learn this. That’s what inspired me to join Immersion.

I was nervous about starting something new in my 50s and wondered whether there was still room for me. But Immersion showed me that it’s never too late to learn something new. I loved the depth and clarity of the education; everything finally made sense in a way it never had before.

One of the best parts of Immersion was the community. My 2023 study group became a true creative community, and I still talk to many of those artists today. The combination of solid education and true connection was invaluable.

Since taking Immersion, I’ve created hundreds of patterns, many sold on Spoonflower and used throughout my own product line: kitchen towels, blankets, aprons, notecards, and even my new prayer journal. My designs now fill my online shop and my Wildflower Studio in Colorado.

Immersion gave me a new creative direction. It showed me that beginning again in my 50s was the start of a beautiful new chapter. If you’re on the fence, trust your gut. This course is worth it, for the skills, the community, and the confidence it gives you.
