Meet Alicia Bruce
From module one, I immediately learned new skills. My biggest fear of jumping in and realizing it was covering everything I already knew was erased right away. My pattern designing became more efficient and I learned so many more bits about Illustrator that I hadn't known before. Puppet warp?! GAME CHANGER!
I signed up for Immersion on the very last day registration was open. I went back and forth about it as I'd already licensed a collection to a fabric manufacturer so I worried that the course would cover things that I already knew. Boy, was I wrong! From module one I learned new tools and skills and it kept going from there. I wished I could have gone back to re-do my collection using the skills I learned in Immersion!
I love that Immersion has lifetime access because I often find myself going back to brush up on my skills or go over something that I'd forgotten.
I do a lot of work for clients, including some illustrated logo design for small businesses, so even though my work isn't 100% creating patterns I still use everything I learned in Immersion. I feel so confident in Adobe Illustrator since taking the course, which is why I recommend it to anyone who is on the fence about it. It's not JUST a surface pattern design course - there are so many ways to apply the skills I learned in Immersion!
Since taking the course, I've become so much more confident in using Illustrator and vectorizing my work. One of the coolest things I realized I could do (with both patterns and illustrations) is bring traditional work into the vector world. It was a game-changer to learn that I could scan a flower or create a branch using a brush pen and paper and bring that texture into Illustrator. It's helped me experiment with alternate ways of creating, like using cut paper, pencil linework, and more. Knowing how to bring those textures into a vector program changed the game for me!
