Meet Ilka Zuijderland Varnes

I love how much I learned through the program. I was blown away by how much I learned in Illustrator, and every lesson was so full of new information. 

Before I started with Surface Pattern Design, I was working as a Graphic Designer for a tourism company for the last 12 years. When Covid hit, I was furloughed and because I wasn’t content anymore with my job, I took the opportunity to change my focus and learn more about surface pattern design. 

When I joined Immersion, everything started to make sense regarding how to build your business and how you can succeed. I learned so much about myself and listening to Bonnie held me overcome imposter syndrome. 

I created my logo, just finished my website, started my business account on Instagram, and I am now working on my portfolio. My dream is to license my art with some specific companies, start a project that is very dear to me, and maybe one day start teaching to pay my knowledge and wisdom forward.
