Meet Shreyashee Sahoo

business is still small but i quit my dayjob!!! graphic design illlustration united states

I was at a crossroads in my career, working in HR but feeling a quiet pull toward something more creative and meaningful. I had always loved art and design, yet I wasn’t sure how to begin or where to start. When I discovered the Immersion Course, it felt like a light turned on. Immersion was a chance to rediscover the artist within me. I wanted to learn how to express my ideas visually and create something beautiful and purposeful with my own hands. More than anything, I hoped Immersion would help me reconnect with my creative side, and it did. It became the beginning of an entirely new chapter, one filled with courage, color, and endless possibility.

What I loved most was discovering that inspiration has no expiration date. Every lesson felt like unlocking a new part of myself. I loved how the course blended structure with freedom, guiding me step by step while encouraging my artistic voice to grow. The community was deeply inspiring. Seeing others share their dreams and designs reminded me that art connects us all in the most genuine way. Immersion made me fall in love not just with Adobe Illustrator, but with the creative process itself. It gave me confidence, purpose, and a new way to see the world.

Since then, my life has transformed. I left my day job, I’m a mom and working as a creative, and I have successfully mastered this skill and feel so proud of myself. Artist representation has been one of my wins, and I’ve experienced mindset shifts of creative confidence, developed my skills as an artist, and gained the courage to call myself an artist. Even though I felt like I already had a very good understanding of Illustrator, my biggest “aha” moment happened when I created my first artwork in Adobe Illustrator. I remember staring at the screen, amazed that I had made something so alive and full of color. It was the moment I realized this is what I’m meant to do and that it wasn’t too late to start over.

If I could go back, I would tell myself to stop doubting. It’s never too late to begin again. The dreams I had tucked away were still waiting for me, patient and alive. I didn’t need to have it all figured out; I just needed to take one small, brave step. The rest will unfold beautifully. I’d whisper: trust yourself. The world needs art that only you can create.

To someone considering Immersion, I would say if you are considering this course, do it. It’s where transformation begins. I was once unsure too, wondering if it was too late to follow my creative dream, but Immersion opened a door I didn’t know existed. I was nervous as a mother of two, balancing family and work, and wondered if it was too late to begin again. Then Bonnie said, “You can start exactly where you are,” and those words became my light.

Opening Adobe Illustrator for the first time felt like a doorway back to my true self. The warmth of the community and the encouragement in every lesson helped me embrace imperfection and see creativity as something to live.

Since completing the course, everything has changed. I earned my associate degree in graphic design from SCAD and am now pursuing my master’s in graphic design and visual communication at the Academy of Art University. Today, I devote all my time to my creative journey, building my portfolio, exploring surface pattern design, and nurturing the artist I was always meant to be. Immersion was my turning point, the moment I realized it’s never too late to follow your childhood dream.
